Now I let Brian see me scared. To tell you the truth it brings out the best in him. I’ve never seen him so natural as when he’s protecting me, helping me recover, and making me believe I can.

He still clowns his way out of affection. ‘You know how much I love sex in public places’.

The last four words roll off his tongue too easily, too strategically. I think of the first six and the way he kissed me before he said them. They make me feel safe. The world is carrying me and I float on home.

Don't mind me...I'm just going to quietly sneak in, slink into a seat in the back row and hope nobody realizes I wasn't here.

So, what's new?

Apparently this last month I pulled an episode 411 Justin.
I was nowhere to be seen or heard from.

Let's just call it a quiet little perfect storm of stupid crap.
Some of the lame excuses: dead computer, family vacation, working, a house full of relatives, and the republican at home. Damn, does this give you all another reason to hate republicans? Or, maybe you are thanking him. ;)

Note: Brian and Justin refused to work with me tonight. Brian kept going OOC and Justin was all whiny. I got this one little drabble out of them and then sent them off to bed without supper.

'Tis the season for drama, Justin thought with a sigh. He stared at Brian still staring off into the dark night. He yawned and padded quietly over to him. Justin placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Brian was like a scared animal when he was like this. One wrong move and he could go feral for days--drinking, tricking, and tripping out without coming up for air. That's not what Justin wanted with the two days he had left.
Hand seemingly safe, he rested his chin on Brian's shoulder. “It's not that I don't want to.” He whispered.
Brian just nodded. “I know.”

“Yeah. I’m going to warn the art department.”

“Good idea.” She grabbed her coat.

“Where are you going? “

“To purchase a stay of execution.”


Brian slammed the door to his office, tossed his coat on the sofa, then yanked the door open again to yell at…someone. He was greeted by Cynthia, holding a grande quadruple shot mocha. The cup read, ’Tis the season’.

“Thanks, Cynthia.”

Brian watched as Gus latched onto Justin like a spider monkey. He was going to miss him.

Both of them, actually.

Justin moved on to Melanie and Lindsay, and Gus came to him. Brian picked him up, mindful that in another year or so, Gus would run before allowing himself to be held like a baby. Brian held him tight and inhaled his special little boy smell.

“Dad, why are you sniffing me?”

“I wasn’t sniffing you, I was inhaling so that I could do this,” he said, blowing a raspberry against Gus’s neck, sending his son into hysterical giggles.

“Dad, I know what I want for Christmas.”

“Let’s see…a pony? No wait, a really cool car like mine.”

“No! Wait, I can have a pony?”

Brian could hear Justin chuckling close by.

“I was just kidding. So, what would you like?”

“My friend Charlie’s dad took him and his brother skiing for Thanksgiving. Can we go skiing?”

“Well, that would depend on your moms.”

“Can you ask them? Please, Dad??”

“But what if your Mama beats me up?”

“She’s just kidding when she says that.”

Now Justin was laughing hard.

“I’ll see what I can do, okay?”

“Thanks, Dad!”
